To begin, think of some of the topics you’ve discussed in the discussion forums or an idea you began looking into for one of your reading engagements. Also, you might consider the following topics as they are explored in many of the assigned texts in this course: gender, freedom, faith, religion, missions work, truth, friendship, civil rights, traditions, ceremonies, family. Of course, your professor will a be a great resource for developing the idea for your paper. Once you have landed on a topic that interests you, do a little research to find what other thinkers or scholars have said about this topic in relation to your chosen literary text. (This is important not only for the discovery of your topic and thesis but also because you will need to cite three sources in addition to your selected text in this paper—more on the use of sources under “Literary Analysis 2 Final Paper Instructions” below). From there, you’ll shape your topic into a thesis. How to move from topic to thesis is discussed in “How To Write About Literature,” which is posted under course information and linked in several other weeks. The full paper is due in week 8. A description of Literary Analysis 2 is available below. Excluding A Raisin in the Sun, you can write about any text(s) we’ve read this term. Your professor will read your outline and provide you with brief feedback early in week 8. Literary Analysis 2 Self-Review Instructions (Due in Week 8) Complete the Self-Review to ensure you’ve met the assignment aims and to check for conventions of writing about literature. Literary Analysis 2 Final Paper Instructions (Due in Week 8) Write and submit a five- to eight-page literary analysis on any of the texts we’ve read this term, excluding A Raisin in the Sun. In addition to the close-reading skills you’ve used to develop your essay in weeks 1 and 2, you will be incorporating sources into your assignment. A minimum of three intelligent sources must be used to develop your idea in this paper. The source can be about your text directly, or it can be about the idea you are writing about (such as water/ice, murder, siblings, money, etc.). You may use a source you have already employed in DFs of week 6 or 7. If needed, see OWLL: Researching on how to locate and evaluate a good source. You might also want to visit the library Comp II lib guide. It may help you remember some of the work you did with locating sources in Comp II. Remember, you will need to include an APA or Turabian Reference page since you are using sources in this paper. Additionally, please review “How to Write a Literary Analysis” to help explain what the assignment is, how to complete it, and how it will be graded via the rubric any questions please ask
